Mike Mee, Of Counsel

Mike Mee, Of Counsel, has been practicing law in California since 1969.  He has handled a broad range of legal and insurance defense work, including personal injury, construction defect, coverage, surety, condemnation, landlord-tenant, real estate sales and broker malpractice. Mike became Of Counsel to Jon York in 1998.

Mike is an active trial attorney who has tried more than 50 cases to verdict, also winning more than 90 percent.  He has argued 12 cases to the Courts of Appeal, winning all appeals and three Petitions for Writ of Mandate.  Two of these victories resulted in published opinions:

o Civil Service Employees Insurance Co. v. Klapper, 59 Cal.App. 3d 918, made new law benefiting auto insurers; and
o Golden Eagle Ins.  Co. v. First Nationwide Financial Corp., 26 Cal.App. 4th 160, established important subrogation rights belonging to construction sureties.

Mike received a B.S. degree from Arizona State University in 1966 and a J.D. from the University of California Berkeley, Boalt Hall, in 1969, where he was named Moot Court Outstanding Oral Advocate.  He was formerly a partner in Eliassen, Postel & Mee.  Mike then became a licensed real estate broker and syndicator, experience that has proven invaluable in handling real estate and tenant-landlord cases.

Mike is the former President and former Legal Counsel to the United States Tennis Association of Northern California, as well as a member of the National Board of Directors of the USTA.
