Sally A. Keane
She began her career with McDonald, Cullom & Burland, a San Francisco defense and plaintiff's firm where she tried two cases, one as second chair in an excessive force/police misconduct jury trial and the other, a discrimination based on sexual orientation court trial. She has also briefed and argued five appeals before the First District Court of Appeal, resulting in two published opinions: o Taing v. Johnson Scaffolding Co. (1992) 9 Cal. App. 4th 579; o Stevenson v. San Francisco Housing Authority (1994) 24 Cal. App. 4th 269. Sally is also experienced in negotiating agreements and settlements through mediation and arbitration. Sally received a B.A. degree from Notre Dame de Namur University. She received her J.D. from Golden Gate University in 1988. She completed a six-month externship with the City Attorney's office in Anchorage, Alaska in 1986 and a four-month externship with the Alameda County Superior Court Law and Motion Department in 1987. She has been a traffic and small claims judge pro tem with the Alameda County Superior Court since 2001. She is on the Pre-Arbitration Settlement Panel with the San Francisco Superior Court. She volunteers with Golden Gate University Law School's appellate advocacy program and regularly speaks in junior high and high schools in Alameda County through the Alameda County Bar Association's Lawyers in the classroom program. She also participated in the Alameda County High School mock trial program. Sally is a Bay Area native and resides in Oakland.
