Jane C. Hanawalt, Shareholder Jane C. Hanawalt, Shareholder, a California native, relocated back to the west coast in mid-1996 following an eight year career with the United States Government Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. Jane received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Redlands in 1970, and her law degree from the National Law Center, George Washington University, in 1988. In Washington, D.C., Jane practiced before various federal courts and administrative tribunals, primarily on government contract matters, representing the Department of Agriculture. Her caseload involved quite a variety of issues, from construction and environmental remediation to computer systems procurement and software licensing agreements. Jane was also involved in drafting grant agreements, proposed legislation, and regulations for the Department. Since beginning practice with Jon York & Associates, Jane’s work has included personal injury, property owner liability, insurer bad faith litigation, wills and estates, professional liability, public entity matters, and commercial transactions for corporate clients. Jane has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, both mediations and arbitrations. In addition, she achieved a defense verdict in her first jury trial in California, which also resulted in a substantial costs recovery for our principal. After a three-year sabbatical spent primarily in Mexico, Jane has returned to her position with Jon York & Associates. In 2005, Jane became a shareholder and partner in the firm with Jon and Greg.
